Sustainability

What you can do

There are simple changes you can make to live more sustainably and reduce your carbon footprint. Recycling is an easy step. For what items you can recycle and where on campus, please visit our Waste and Recycling page. Also consider how you shop, study and get to campus - each change, however small, is a move towards being more sustainable.

Have a look at our Climate Companion Pack for more information and ways to get involved.

There are also a range of opportunities to get involved with sustainability initiatives, such as volunteering, biodiversity projects and the community garden.

We also run campaigns - at present the Love Where You Live campaign, in collaboration with the Residences team, where we have come up with tips for how to clean in a more sustainable way. The campaign is predominantly aimed at students living in halls of residence, but these tips can be utilised by anyone. You can find the Sustainable Cleaning Hacks video on our Instagram page and here is a Product List. This campaign ties in with the objectives of our Circular Economy and Sustainable Resource Management Strategy 2024-2030. Through reusing cleaning products and refilling them, rather than always buying new, we can keep products in circulation and stop them ending up in waste streams.
