Report confidentially

You can make an informal, formal or anonymous report on the Exeter Speaks Out website.

If the accused is a University of Exeter student, you can:

Disclose (without formal action)

This is when you want to tell the University what has happened but you don’t want formal action taken.

Note: You can also remain anonymous, but this will limit the help we can offer you.

Report (with formal action)

This is when you want to tell the University what has happened and you do want formal action taken.

Note: You can't be anonymous with this option. Action can only be taken against named, registered students.

Support

If you don't report anonymously the University's Lead for Sexual Misconduct will meet with you to discuss support with your wellbeing; studies (including mitigation); and accommodation (including a move if you are in University accommodation).

Next steps

If you want to take formal action, a trained Investigating Officer will meet with you. You can have someone with you to support you for this meeting. The Investigating Officer will meet separately with the accused person. The Investigating Officer will let you know the outcome of the investigation.

Outcome

The possible outcomes are:

  • No action can be taken - case closed or
  • A minor disciplinary breach occurred - decision made and case closed or
  • A Major Disciplinary Board will hear the case: decision made and case closed.

Review

If you feel the outcome is unsatisfactory, you can ask the University to review your case within 20 working days of receiving the outcome.
